I use the paid for version of Kaspersky Internet Security but they do a free AV product. If you want something else then there are several alternatives. It should activate itself automatically if you remove Avira so you don't really need to do much more than that. So going to get rid, need recommendatins on another virus programme, got to be fast and not bloated and free please.Īs said above if you run Win10 then the built in Defender AV is reasonable enough for most users needs. So since avira updated itself a few weeks back my pc is getting slower and slower, i have had to wait 10 mins from switch on to post this. Try using the checker tool on Crucial website to see what it says, That should indicate what RAM you have and what upgrades are possible.
Though that may cause other issues all of it's own. You should also consider upgrading to Win 10 since Win 7 is end of life effectively now. Though after you read this you might want to avoid Avast AV. You can always uninstall and try one of the alternative free AV.

It could be that something in the old install had screwed up causing the problem and a fresh install may cure it. Try reinstalling Avira, download the latest version from their website rather than use any installer you have lying around on your hard drive. Reinstall avira? (and hope all the other stuff that comes with it doesnt slow me down again) Its a old pc duel core with 2gb ram, not the best but does everything i need. Uninstalled it last night and wow forgot my PC could be so fast, so now i dont want to put it back on.
